Terms of Use
Effective: July 2026
Short version: Stream Genie is provided free, as-is, with no warranty. Use it at your own risk. Community-run means bugs can happen; we're not liable for lost data, lost contribution work, or anything else that goes wrong. See the Privacy Policy for what data does and doesn't leave your device.
Acceptance
By installing or using Stream Genie (the "Extension"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't install or use it.
What Stream Genie is
Stream Genie is a free browser extension that overlays community-contributed annotations on video streams by reading pixels locally in your browser. It relies on community-maintained profiles hosted on GitHub and a Cloudflare Worker for submitting contributions. It is an independent, unofficial project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Twitch, YouTube, or any game or platform it displays annotations for. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
No warranty
Stream Genie is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not promise the Extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
In particular, we make no guarantee against:
- Bugs that cause incorrect, missing, or misleading annotations
- Loss of locally stored data, including saved profile selections, contributor codes, or in-progress trigger/profile work
- Interruption or unavailability of community profiles, the submission service, or GitHub itself
- Content submitted by other community members, which we do not pre-screen before it reaches you
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer(s) of Stream Genie are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profiles, contributions, or other content, arising from your use of or inability to use the Extension — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
If you're building or maintaining a profile you care about, keep your own backup of anything that matters to you. Community profile data lives in a public GitHub repository and its history, but locally stored settings (like your saved contributor code) exist only on your device unless you've written them down elsewhere.
Community contributions
If you submit a trigger, annotation, or profile through the Extension, you're submitting it to be merged into the public streamGenieProfiles GitHub repository, where it becomes publicly visible and subject to that repository's license and any applicable GitHub terms. Don't submit anything you don't have the right to share, and don't submit anything abusive, illegal, or knowingly false. Submissions may be reviewed, edited, or rejected by profile maintainers.
Acceptable use
Don't use Stream Genie to harass, defame, or spam; don't attempt to abuse, flood, or disrupt the submission service or GitHub infrastructure it relies on; don't submit malicious content (including anything designed to mislead viewers or exploit the review process). We may revoke contributor access or block abusive use at our discretion.
Free service, subject to change
Stream Genie is currently free and we intend to keep a free tier available. That said, we may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Extension or its backend services at any time, and we may introduce paid features or tiers in future versions. We'll do our best to communicate meaningful changes, but nothing in these Terms guarantees any specific feature will remain free or available indefinitely.
Termination
You can stop using Stream Genie at any time by uninstalling it. We may discontinue the Extension, community profile hosting, or the submission service at any time, for any reason, without notice.
Changes to these Terms
If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
